Roman summertime relax

The summer in the eternal city is great, exotically hot and humid… Sometimes, though, you might want to get some fresh air. Where to go? Easy: Rome has some magnificent parks, real oasis of green and fresh air in the middle of the city. Of course they tend to be pretty populated in during the “bella stagione”, but that’s not necessarily a bad thing – they are the perfect scene for a little summer flirt with a tanned football player or a sunbathing sereen… There are parks for all tastes: there’s Villa Borghese in the city center for those who want to make new acquaintances or, indeed, find some romance; there’s the huge Villa Doria Pamphili for serious joggers, families, or lovebirds looking for a hideaway; there’s Villa Ada to spend a relaxing afternoon with friends and Villa Fiorelli for doglovers… And of course you have to have a pique nique once you there! Some tramezzini-sandwiches, fruit and cheese, well cooled spumante-wine and pasticcini (italian mini-sized pastries!)… So, all you need to know now is how to get there. The italians of course go by car and end up having to circle for an hour looking for parking space. You’re smarter than that and catch a bus: for Villa Borghese you take the bus 910 or the metro A from the Termini station; for Villa Pamphili you catch the bus 75 at Termini or 44 at Piazza Venezia; fo Villa Ada bus 92 from Termini; for Villa Fiorelli bus 16 from Termini.
