Budget traveler: go for the low season!

If you have the chance to get some time off work in January or February, do it: in the European cities like Rome these winter months Spanish stepsare low season and therefore perfect for low budget travellers! Everything, starting from the flights, costs much less than a few months later. The low cost flight companies like Ryanair or Easyjet offer flights between the European cities for the cost of little less than the airport taxes and the hotel rates are even 50% lower than in the high season: check the Hotel in Rome Des Artistes located in the city center and their spectacular winter rates! For even cheaper rates, try the Hostel Des Artistes, or the hotel Carlito’s Way, but frankly, in low season you should take advantage and pamper yourself with a three star –treatment…

Not to speak of the shopping: January is the time of the great sales in all of Europe, so what better time is there to travel in Rome, one of the capital cities of the European fashion… The sales in Rome start officially on the 10th of January and go on for weeks.

And it’s not just your purse you’re doing a favor to, but also your nerves: the queue to the Vatican Museum in January is hardly the vatican-museum-staircase.bmpthird as long as it is in May, and the same goes for all the tourist attractions. Even though in Rome you never need to fear getting bored: there’s always something going on, just in this time of year it’s less crowded and less chaotic. Also, with less tourists around, the professionals of tourism – receptionists, waiters, guides – are less stressed and busy and have more time to dedicate to you. You tend to better treatment everywhere and get closer to the real local way of life.

Roman trattoria

Of course, in January you won’t be able to go to the beach or get a sun tan, but in Rome the weather is quite nice around the year anyway, and on the other hand, in the city a hot summery weather can be all but pleasant. In January you usually get enough sun to have long lunches in the street side tables of the trattorias, if not enough for actual sun bathing, and towards the end of February the spring starts to take over.
