JOHN FOGERTY IN ROME

The legend of Folk-Rock Mister John Fogerty will offer a concert in Rome, on July 25th 2009. He was the creator of a powerful folk style, that mixed the sounds of the life in the Bayou with the electrical force of Rock and Roll during the 60’ and 70’s.

Pacifist, he stood against the Vietnam war, as he did recently again with the conflict in Irak. Most of his songs are written from the point of view of the hard-working man in contact with nature, perfectly aware of the daily fight and of a certain unfair play going on in the air.

Fogerty was born in 1945 in Berkley. He was the founder of Creedence Clearwater Revival. In 1959 he had his first musical experience when together with drummer Doug Clifford and bassist Stu Cook formed the instrumental trio The Blue Velvets. Next year he joined his brother Tom Fogerty, rhythm guitarist and singer. In 1964 the group changed its name to The Golliwogs and again in 1968 they changed to Creedence Clearwater Revival.

The single Susie Q was the beginning of a very successful career, followed by I Put a Spell on you. Albums like Green River or Willy and the Poor Boys sealed the success of the band and are evergreen classics in the History of Rock.

But for all the success of Creedence, something that remains unexplained is why Fogerty didn’t have the same lucky star during his solo career.

The Auditorium is easy to reach from our locations. Visit www.hoteldesartistes.com or www.yeshotelrome.com. Enjoy it!!!
