THE FRINGE COMES TO THE CENTER: ROME FRINGE FESTIVAL 2015

Non-stop shows, art exhbits, day & night markets, refreshment areas, wine & food tasting, workshops and kids activities: this and much more at Roma Fringe Festival 2015, taking place this year against the charming backdrop of Castel Sant’Angelo’s gardens.
Every day from 9 am to 2 am this yearly independent theatre & performative arts festival will refresh hot summer nights in Rome by offering a wide range of shows and performances to both adults and kids.
A number of foreign companies & artists will entartain public with musical, comedy, drama, social theatre, dance, stand up, street art, clowning, puppet, poetry and literature following a daily schedule as follows:

  • from 9am to 4.30pm: market, summer camp for children by Arteficine, free events and gastronomy
  • from 6pm to 8.30pm: aperitif, concerts, food tasting and market.
  • from 8.30pm onwards nine shows of any sort described above

No entry fee to the “festival carousel” is requested, but a 5 euro ticket will be paid to each company for attending their shows.
Rome Fringe Festival has just begun and will last until July 5th.

To the art of dress design is dedicated the exhibition just launched at MAXXI Museum of Rome: until 3 May 2015, 80 high fashion garments belonging to the the period 1945-1968, coupled with Bulgari pieces of jewelry, will be on display.
Issued by the genius of Valentino, Sorelle Fontana, Balestra, Capucci, Jole Veneziani and many more, these items of clothing guide the visitors through the early stages of what is still known today as the Italian excellence in fashion design.

200 NATIVITY SCENES ON EXHIBIT IN ROME

If you are looking for traditional Italian handicraft during Christmas time and want to take a break from usual museums, go to Piazza del Popolo and visit the exhibit “100 Presepi” (“One-hundred Nativity scenes”): on display more than 200 samples of nativity scenes from several regions of Italy and abroad, all made out of different materials. Dating back to the Middle Age, nativity scenes building art leaves much room to creativity either in techniques and materials employed.
“100 Presepi” will be the perfect choice for your kids as well, since special workshops are set for them.
Where: Piazza del Popolo, Sale del Bramante (next to the Church of Santa Maria del Popolo).
