Formed in Limrick, Ireland in 1989, the band consists of singer Dolores O’Riordan, guitarist Noel Hogan, bassist Mike Hogan and drummer Fergal Lawler. they shot to internation fame in the 90’s with such hits as (”Linger”, “Dreams”, “Zombie”, “Ode to My Family”, “Ridiculous Thoughts”, “Salvation”, “Free to Decide” and “Promises”).

One of the biggest bands of the 80’s and a driving force in the MTV fueled “Second British Invasion” of America, Duran Duran have made a rather large splash in the music industry. While they were generally considered part of the New Romantic scene along with bands such as Spandau Ballet when they first emerged, they later shed this image. The band worked with fashion designers to build a sharp and elegant image that earned them the nickname “the prettiest boys in rock”.

The group was formed by Nick Rhodes, John Taylor and Stephen Duffy, with the later addition of Roger Taylor and, after numerous personnel changes, Andy Taylor and Simon Le Bon. Their controversial videos, which included partial nudity and suggestions of sexuality, became popular in the early 1980s on the then-new music video channel MTV. Duran Duran were among the first bands to have their videos shot by professional directors with 35 mm film movie cameras, which gave their videos a much more polished look. In 1984, the band were early innovators with video technology in their live stadium shows.

Museo Carlo Bilotti

The title Omar, Roma,love plays on anagram and combines the artist’s name, Omar or Omar Galliani and the city which he celebrates in this particular show and this is Roma explaining the sentiment that binds it with wit to Amor. One big table a design even exagerated (315cm – 400cm) made entirely of pencils and poplar board.

On display at the Bilotti museum, in addition to the large table, Galliani has 25 preparatory drawings for the work.

Preparatory drawings especially the magical books of travel in which the artist has pinned his iconographic ideas, motives and emotions, as demonstrated by the different territories visited.

Every year in the eternal city of Rome the “Culture Week” or “Settimana della Cultura” is held in the month of April. This means that for one full week all state-run museums, galleries and acheological sites will be free to enter. And thats not all, museums and galleries that are normally closed to the general public will open their doors for a rare opportunity to see art works that are normally kept under lock and key. There will also be a variety of confrences, workshops, guided tours and concerts.

Among the list of sites and museums that are included are “The Colloseum”, Roman Forum” and “Palatine“, The Baths of Caracalla, Villa dei Quintili and the mausoleum of Cecilia Metella. Also included are the “Meuseo Nazionale Romano”, “The National Gallery of Modern Art“, “The National Museum of the Middle Ages”, “The Galleria Borghese“, “The Pallazo Venezia Museum” and “Castel Sant’Angelo“.

If your visit to the Eternal City includes a Thursday don’t forget to buy the newspaper La Repubblica (1,20 Eur). Along with it you will get a little weekly magazine called TrovaRoma, where you will be able to find the most interesting things going on in the city (cinema, theatre, restaurants, concerts and then some!). Of course, most of it is written in Italian, but they have also an English summary with the most interesting appointments.

As every year, runners from all the world will visit the Eternal city to take part in the city marathon, to take place next Saturday, 18 March.The marathon has become an established sportive traditions and tourists and Romans alike look forward to it every year.

The runners will pass by some of the most remarkable landmarks in the city, making it a really interesting option for those who love to visit other cities and stay fit.The race will start at 9:00 AM at Campo de’ Fiori and is also valid as 5th edition of “RomaFitwalking”.

As a part of the event, it will be possible also to participate in a 4k run called RomaFun, where as you can imply by the name, the only aim is not to win but to have fun and enjoy. But even if you don’t take part in the race, it will surely be an exciting a fun way to spend the morning!

Many countries around the world celebrate the International Women’s day on March 8. It’s a big thing in Italy:  that day, Italians show their appreciation giving little bouquets of yellow flowers to the women they know. And to show their appreciation, the ministry of culture has decided to allow free entrance to the national museums to all women during their day. Here you will find a list of all the monuments you can visit in Rome (the Galleria Borghese and the Colosseum are included).
