If you consider yourself to be something of a wine connoisseur,
or you simply enjoy a glass or two every weekend,
then you should visit the beautiful city of Rome this May.
This is because the city is to play host to a two-day wine extravaganza,
known as the Roma Wine Festival.
The Roma Wine Festival 2012 is held at Citta’s del Gusto, (Citta’ del Gusto, 161 Via Enrico Fermi 00146, Rome, Italy) and promises two days of workshops, meetings, presentations and talks, as well as plenty of wine-tasting, of course. The list of professional attendees lined up to speak at the event is impressive, meaning that visitors can find out everything they need to know about the science of making, tasting and appreciating a good bottle of wine.
Whilst the line-up for this year’s wine festival is not yet known, previous year’s attendees have included:
Bernard Burtschy – wine journalist
Ian D’Agata – director of the International Wine Academy of Rome
Massimo Claudio Comparini – vice director of the International Wine Academy of Rome
Charles Metcalfe – wine critic and co-chairman of the London International Wine Challenge
Next March you will have the chance to admire in Rome the work of Joan Mirò one of the most famous spanish painters of the past century.
Through his art, Mirò tries to break free from the constraints of figurative painting (that is, painting things just as you see them) to expriment with shapes and colours: the result is playful as is colorful but that doesn’t mean it doesn’t offer any emotional deepth or intellectual rigour.
The works of this remarkable painter will be displayed from March 16 2012 to June 10 2012 at the Chiostro del Bramante, which can be easily reached from Yes Hotel or Hotel Des Artistes in Rome taking the bus 40 from the Termini station (Stop Chiesa Nuova).

Today we bring you 4 tricks to improve your experience in the Eternal City!
1.- Roma Pass: You might have already know about this one, but offers good value, so it’s worth mentioning: for 30 euros you get to use the public transportation sysem for 3 days and free entrance to the first 2 museums you visit. Besides, you get discounts on all the museums you visit after the first 2. You can find the Roma Pass in many Tabacchi shops and newsstands in the Termini station, where you will likely arrive from your airport.
2.- Book Vatican Museums in advance: The lenght of the queue to get into the museums is almost legendary among tourists, but you can easily avoid it if you book the entrance in advance. To do it go to this website http://biglietteriamusei.vatican.va/musei/tickets/do ; from there you can check availability and book your tickets.
3.-Atac website: Rome is not particularly easy to figure out, when it comes to transportation, but the things are slowly changing thanks to the internet. ATAC, the public transportation agency of the city has o neat website that allows you to check yhe best routes toget from one point of the city to another using the public transportation system. It also shows in real time how long will it take for a bus to arrive to a given stop,so it’s a great resource to check on your mobile.
4.- 060608: This is the Municipality of Rome’s official tourist information service. You can call them at (+39) 060608 to get general information about the city and even book museums. Even if the service has been around for a while, is not very well known but it’s really useful!
An eccentric character to say the least, Salvador Dali was a Spanish Catalan surrealist painter. Born in Figueres, Spain, Dali was a particularly skilled draftsman and the use of this in his work is quite astounding.
A self confessed genius, Dali managed to grab attention not only for his masterful works but also gain much, if not more, for his extremely eccentric behaviour. He was known to have driven a car filled to the roof with cauliflowers, lectured with his head enclosed in a diving helmet and had a bewildering but amusing affinity for rhinoceros horns, to which he claimed that rhinoceros horns and cauliflowers were the base of his inspiration.
Dali had a rather large repertoire including film, sculpture and photography collaborating with a range of artists in a variety of media. His skills in painting are often attributed to the influence of renaissance masters.
Now in Rome you have the chance to acquire some insight of your own into the painter. The exhibition, held in the Complesso Del Vittoriano from the 10th of March to the 30th of June, investigates the artists complex personality and his multifaceted genius. An aspect of the painters life that has been so far ignored by exhibitions and research into Dali will be brought to light, this aspect is his relationship with Italy.

If your in the prati area, perhaps having just finished with the Vatican Museums then mabey you might be a little peckish. If this is the case then I would recommend a little place called Fa’Bio (a pun based on the owner’s name, Fabio, and the biologic vocation ofhis place). If you’re the kind of person that enjoys a fresh, natural meal then this is the place for you.
Wether you’re a vegetarian or enjoy a big sandwhich full of prosciutto crudo, they will do it all. The atmosphere is a very friendly one and the guys who run it are a couple of characters; they will help you feel right at home. And when you’ve finished with your food they’ll make you a nice smoothie with fresh fruit and many different recipes that they’ve concocted.
Fa’Bio It’s located on Via Germanico 43, just off Via Ottaviano. To get there just take the red subway line and get off at Ottaviano/ Musei Vaticani.
Hope you enjoy!
